We didn't get there super early but there was still food left. Portion size is okay for price, we only did one platter to try the different spots in north shore. Prawns were good and it was a bit crowded but worth to try it.

Their location has changed but their quality remains the same. Believe me when I say it's the best on the island. The shrimp they give you is a lot bigger compared to other shrimp trucks. The whole family gets the same thing every time we're near this side of the island, and it never disappoints. We get the Butter Garlic Shrimp Plate with Xtra garlic!! The wait is long depending on the day, but regulars know to call in and place your order once you get in the car, so when you get there it's ready. Sometimes the phone won't be answered by them but this place is a tradition for my family for decades so I don't mind the wait. You can place your order and just sit down and talk story and catch up with the family. I live all the way in town now so the drive there is long, but I'll drive back whenever I miss it. Be respectful to the employees cause they've been serving generations of local regulars.

12/2/24 Still getting used to their new location. At the time of my visit there were no toilets or washrooms available. Just the food truck, tables and chairs. It also used to be cash only. Now it's "card only", which isn't updated on the Yelp app. If you're planning to make the drive here, use the bathroom before you come, and bring lots of hand wipes or an extra water bottle to wash up. Expect a 30minute wait time for food preparation. That is their standard wait time. No kid friendly food here so plan accordingly. Unless your kid doesn't mind shrimp, fish, rice corn and salad. Otherwise, of all the shrimp trucks I still prefer this one

If you're heading to the Polynesian Cultural Center, you probably also are bookmarking Giovanni's. Well, just a bit further down the road - and way less crowded - is Romy's. Friendly staff that try to very helpful. Their rake on garlic butter shrimp is interesting - reflecting on the more buttery/citrusy Giovanni's, we instead have the drier sauce of Romy's. Rather than swimming in a pool of sauce akin to Boiling Crab, we now have a bunch of sauteed garlic and butter tossed with whole shrimp (heads included). The one distinct note we noticed was missing was citrus. Giovanni's has a lemon tip on their garlic butter, whereas Romy's did not, and thus felt just a tiny bit lacking. Overall was a good experience and ultimately comes down to preference. If you have nostalgia going on family trips, if you enjoy the tried and true, if you like a saucier shrimp, Giovanni's. If you want to try something new, if you like head on shrimp, if you like a drier sauce, Romy's. **And I want to emphasize, it's all cooked well and there is a sauce at Romy's, it's just closer to "sauce" and not "soup".

The original and still the best for me. They have changed their location further down the road and they now serve their food in a food truck. The location is more spacious and has lots of seating and parking. We ordered the classic garlic buttered shrimp, steamed prawns and the fried sun fish. They were all delicious and the garlic was overwhelmingly good. Service was actually quick and no long wait.

Of all the shrimp trucks I've had in the north Romy's was my fave. Warning you will taste garlic for the entire day after you finish your plate but it's worth it lol. Visited the truck location and plate was under $20 for 7 shrimps and 2 scoops of rice. Plenty of seating, no restrooms available at this time. We got the classic plate and the sauce is a light mix of fried crispy and sautéed garlic with chili flake shoyu sauce. Rice was also cooked well. The shrimp was also not too overcooked. Other trucks can tend to be too oily, mushy rice, mushy shrimp. Romy's plate a good balance.
